Industrial Mechanical Maintenance Technician Full Time Charleston, SC, US 4 days ago Requisition ID: 4214 Position Summary Join our growing team responsible for maintaining and improving heavy steel processing equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and improving mechanical systems that support critical production operations. The successful candidate is a self-driven industrial maintenance mechanic who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, minimizing downtime, working alongside electrical technicians and operators, and improving equipment reliability. What We're Looking For A technician who takes ownership of equipment reliability, works safely, collaborates across departments, and is motivated to continuously improve aging production equipment rather than simply repairing failures. Primary Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, chains, sprockets, couplings, and power transmission equipment. Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems including cylinders, valves, pumps, filters, hoses, regulators, and actuators. Perform precision alignment of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment. Replace bearings, seals, shafts, rollers, wear components, and mechanical assemblies. Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor machining as required. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, pneumatic diagrams, OEM manuals, and assembly drawings. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime. Work closely with electrical technicians during major repairs, installations, and equipment upgrades. Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions. Participate in equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects. Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and communicate effectively across departments. Ability to use a computer to write daily reports, respond to emails, and search for replacement parts. Responsible for proper care and cleanliness of tools, equipment, materials, and work area. Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.. Qualifications 5+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience preferred. Experience in steel processing, stamping, or heavy manufacturing preferred. Strong troubleshooting ability with rotating equipment and hydraulic systems. Experience with conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, and power transmission equipment. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Knowledge of OSHA and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Mechanical apprenticeship, trade school, or equivalent industrial experience. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and job-related internet research.
