About the role:

Samsara’s Revenue Accounting team owns how revenue is recognized, reported, and controlled for Samsara’s Connected Operations Platform. As our Revenue Accounting Manager, you will lead the contract review process that turns complex, non-standard customer agreements into defensible ASC 606 conclusions, and ensure deliverables are accurate, automated, and audit-ready. This is a high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of Accounting, Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk — you will help shape deals before they are signed, not just account for them afterward.

You will report to the Director of Revenue Accounting, partnering daily with Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, Revenue Operations, and our external auditors. The work balances technical depth — ASC 606 judgment on novel deal structures — with operational leverage: automating the manual work out of our close and our controls.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the United States.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the Contract Review process end-to-end: evaluate non-standard and complex customer contracts, determine the appropriate ASC 606 treatment, and document technical accounting positions in memos that stand up to auditor, leadership, and SEC-reporting scrutiny.
• Drive automation and enhancement of existing processes and controls: scope and lead improvements to revenue systems, close activities, and control design — from business case through go-live — eliminating manual effort while improving accuracy and timeliness.
• Partner with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk teams during contract negotiations to structure deals and optimize revenue outcomes, advising on terms that affect revenue timing, classification, and presentation before agreements are signed.
• Support internal and external audits and maintain SOX compliance: own the revenue control narratives, deliver audit-ready support, and resolve requests directly with internal audit and our external auditors.
• Own complex, ambiguous revenue issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors (material right options, variable consideration, contract modifications), determining the methods and procedures to apply where precedent does not yet exist.
• Build AI-enabled routines across revenue workstreams — contract review triage, memo drafting, reconciliation and anomaly detection, and audit-support preparation — while setting clear guardrails for quality, privacy, and where human accounting judgment must remain explicit.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including revenue recognition under ASC 606 at a public company, a high-growth technology company, or in public accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience reviewing customer contracts and documenting technical revenue recognition positions in written accounting memos.
• Experience improving or automating accounting processes and controls, including hands-on work in an ERP or revenue subledger (for example NetSuite, Zuora, or RevPro).
• Experience owning SOX controls and supporting internal and external audits.
• Experience leading, managing, or mentoring accountants.

An ideal candidate also has:

• Active CPA license, or CPA eligibility.
• Big 4 or national public accounting experience, with technical revenue or SEC reporting exposure.
• Experience in a hardware-plus-software or SaaS business with multi-element arrangements spanning devices, subscriptions, and professional services.
• Experience partnering with Deal Desk, Legal, and Sales on deal structuring and non-standard commercial terms.
• Experience implementing or upgrading a revenue automation or contract lifecycle tool, or leading a revenue system migration.
• A track record of writing accounting positions on novel deal structures that were adopted as company policy.
• Experience applying AI or analytics tooling to reduce manual accounting work and strengthen controls.
• Strong written communication — able to make a technical conclusion legible to non-accountants in Sales, Legal, and leadership.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions.
