The initial emphasis of the position will be on service development, caseload growth, and relationship-building with regional referring veterinarians, as well as close collaboration with specialty and primary care services. As the service matures, the role will evolve into a clinical teaching position, incorporating didactic instruction, clinical mentorship, and active participation in the veterinary curriculum, with a strong emphasis on diagnostic excellence, longitudinal case management, and interdisciplinary care. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine plans to admit its first class of DVM students in 2025, pending accreditation approval.
