Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills to provide exceptional patient care while supporting mothers through the birthing process.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Weekend Requirement: Nights (Friday and Saturday)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Birthing Center – Labor and Delivery
• Number of L&D Beds: 13
• OR Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Triage Beds: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 14
• Average Births: 170-190 per month
• Delivery Statistics: Over 2,100 deliveries in 2025

Key Responsibilities

• Function as an integral member of the Labor and Delivery team.
• Attend and assist with deliveries, including independent attendance for low-risk deliveries and support for C-section procedures.
• Provide care for high-risk patients, including those with preeclampsia, diabetes, and psychosocial issues.
• Administer medications and titrate IV drips as required, including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers for patient triaging and emergent cases.
• Support postpartum care for mothers and newborns, ensuring optimal health and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery (LDRP) required.
• Certifications:
  • BLS Certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Skills:
  • Must be comfortable with independent attendance at deliveries and circulating during C-sections.
  • Ability to transition and assess newborns immediately after birth.
  • Experience with high-risk labor and preferred intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM).

Work Environment

• Nursing Support: Access to surgical techs and patient care assistants during shifts.
• Staffing: Free charge nurse model in place during all shifts.
• Orientation:
  • Initial 8-hour compliance training with a unit-based educator.
  • 8-hour EPIC training followed by 2-3 unit-specific shifts.
• Scrubs: Provided as part of the uniform policy.

The successful candidate will need to be adaptable to the unit's workflows and open to feedback to ensure quality patient care. A team-oriented approach is essential for success in this role.
