Job Title

Registered Nurse – General Surgery / Telemetry (Travel)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Expected 36 hours/week | 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on an 8th-floor General Surgery unit managing urology and bowel surgery patient populations
• Manage a patient assignment of 6–7 patients depending on shift, utilizing telemetry monitoring competency
• Perform and oversee procedures including TPN, PCA, wound vacs, tube feeds, PEG tubes, dobhoffs, NG tubes, colostomies, urostomies, and various surgical drains (biliary, JP, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, CBI)
• Administer heparin drips, IV antibiotics, and other ordered medications using Baxter IV pumps
• Communicate effectively with charge nurses, unit secretaries, providers, and CNA team members in a fast-paced environment
• Float to other med-surg areas as needed per unit guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or a compact state
• Telemetry competency — required; candidates without this skill will not be considered
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Experience with urology and bowel surgery patient populations — required
• BLS certification — required
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with a broad range of surgical procedures including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, bowel resections, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and hernia repairs
• Prior travel nursing experience in a high-acuity med-surg or general surgery setting
• Positive, energetic, and engaging bedside manner with strong team communication skills
