Mortgage Loan Originator

Responsibilities include originating and qualifying loan applicants by interviewing and counseling existing and prospective mortgage clients. Proactively develops business relationships, making calls to existing and new referral partners plus prospective clients.

Job responsibilities include adhering to bank policies and procedures, representing Capitol Bank ethically and professionally at all times, giving back to the community through volunteering, proactively soliciting new relationships and expanding current at social and civic events, traveling locally to meet partners and prospects where they prefer to do business, staying informed on market, industry, program and guideline changes, collaborating effectively with realtors, builders and other industry trade professionals, managing deadlines and replying to requests promptly, consulting with prospective borrowers and educating them on financing options, obtaining thorough loan applications with proper supporting documentation, initially analyzing financials to help determine credit worthiness, identifying need for additional bank products and services then referring appropriately, working cohesively with processing and underwriting to meet closing needs, maintaining constant contact with clients until closing and beyond as needed, fostering referral relationships with employees in other bank business lines, monitoring past dues and assisting with collections if required, meeting established growth and sales goals, providing valuable feedback on overall client experience to always improve.

Skillset and experience include excellent verbal and written communication skills, being a team player, being achievement oriented, being comfortable in a sales culture, being adaptable to variable workloads, being focused on finding solutions, having a high sense of urgency, being interested in making an impact, being passionate about delivering unmatched service, being proficient in Microsoft Office and loan operating systems, being knowledgeable of secondary market guidelines and rate pricing models, comprehending real estate documentation including title work, having 3-5+ years of mortgage origination experience, having general banking knowledge helpful, having a college degree preferred, and having a valid driver license required.

Internal and external contacts will have considerable contact with co-workers, external customers and prospects.
