Prepare exam rooms and ensure all diagnostic equipment is clean, calibrated, and stocked. Obtain and document patient histories, visual‑acuity results, and pre‑testing data in the EMR. Perform routine pre‑tests (autorefraction, keratometry, tonometry, slit‑lamp imaging, visual fields). Assist the optometrist during examinations—position patients, handle lenses, and operate imaging devices. Educate patients on eyewear care, contact‑lens use, and medication instructions. Process and transmit prescriptions to pharmacies or optical dispensaries. Manage inventory of lenses, frames, contacts, medications, and disposables. Respond to patient calls, schedule follow‑ups, and address basic inquiries. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all legal/ethical standards.
