Substitute Food Service WorkerAn ESS substitute food service worker plays an integral role in preparing and delivering meals to students in a clean, safe, and healthy environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform all duties assigned by the head cook/school administration in the selection, preparation, and serving of foodMaintain a clean and safe food service environment; perform sanitation duties to ensure that all equipment is thoroughly cleaned according to state regulationsStore, utilize, and dispose of food and supplies following federal, state, local, and district regulationsAssist with the accurate keeping of records and ordering of suppliesFood PrepRead and follow standardized recipes.Prepare, set-up, and service food and beveragesMay assist in the preparation of assembling lunches or packing lunches.May set up serving trays, etc., or serve hot food or other food items.InventoryEnsure that assigned food items are ready in the proper quantity.Confer with food service team members and supervisors about the quantities and varieties of food items to be prepared and served.Participate in inventory, receipt, and storage of supplies, food, and equipment.Perform record-keeping tasks promptly: record food and equipment temperatures accurately and legibly complete required documentation.May check, store, and inventory supplies according to department procedures.Point of Sale (POS)Perform cash handling tasks;
