Illumina seeks a Staff Scientist to lead IVD assay development and next-generation sequencing projects for molecular diagnostics and precision oncology. The role combines technical expertise in assay validation with cross-functional collaboration and team mentorship within the Clinical Solutions group.
Responsibilities
- Lead initiation, planning, development, and validation of IVD oncology assays for clinical markets
- Drive technical decision-making and continuous improvement across functional teams
- Execute formal verification and validation protocols following CLSI and industry standards
- Manage and mentor scientists through study design, execution, analysis, and documentation
- Author regulatory reports and present results, risks, and technology roadmaps to leadership
Requirements
- 8+ years related experience with Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with Master's degree, or PhD with 3+ years
- Expertise in IVD assay development and next-generation sequencing technologies
- Knowledge of IVD product requirements, clinical laboratory workflows, and market needs
- Experience with CLSI standards and ISO 13485 quality management systems
- Proven technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presentations
Compensation: $118,200 - $177,200 base salary
