Employment Associate – Mid-Level

Location: New York, NY

Hybrid: 3 days per week in office

\n

Salary: $205K–$230K + discretionary bonus

\n

Our client, a leading law firm in NYC, is seeking a mid-level Employment Associate with 5–7 years of experience to join its Labor & Employment practice. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both employment counseling and litigation, with a background representing employers and advising clients on compliance and risk management.

Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Advise clients on employment law matters, including discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour compliance, paid sick leave, and emerging issues such as AI in the workplace
\n
• Draft and update employee handbooks and employment policies
\n
• Represent employers in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and mediations
\n
• Handle matters involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour claims, breach of contract, and other employment disputes
\n
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions
\n
• Prepare pleadings, discovery, agency responses, and position statements
\n
• Prepare for and conduct depositions
\n
• Conduct witness interviews and fact investigations
\n
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, restrictive covenants, severance agreements, and other employment-related agreements

Requirements

\n

\n
• J.D. from an accredited law school
\n
• Admitted and in good standing in New York
\n
• 5–7 years of relevant employment law experience
\n
• Experience counseling clients on federal, state, and local employment laws
\n
• Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
\n
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
\n

Salary: $205K–$230K depending on class year and experience, plus discretionary bonus.
