Compliance Investigator

Position Summary The Compliance Investigator investigates complaints of violations of University policies, including the Policy on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment, and Related Misconduct; the Policy on Prohibited Sexual Harassment Under Title IX; the Workplace Violence Policy; the Nepotism and Improper Relationships Policy; the Alcohol Policy; the Whistleblower Policy; and other policies as directed. The investigator also investigates complaints of retaliation and other types of misconduct. Investigations cover students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include conducting prompt, thorough investigations, identifying and interviewing witnesses, gathering and securing relevant documentation, and producing detailed reports. The investigator works with office leadership, maintains investigative files, presents findings in hearings or grievance proceedings, and continuously identifies and integrates best practices. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post‑baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent). Candidates with comparable independent educational or instructional activities may be considered on the basis of a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) and at least one year of relevant experience. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience A post‑baccalaureate degree is required. Minimum of three years progressively responsible experience in conducting investigations in relevant areas (human resources, student conduct, or employment/Title IX) or equivalent experience. Must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to interpret multiple policies and procedures, federal and state law, equal opportunity and non‑discrimination laws and regulations, and extensive experience producing analytical writing. The successful candidate must have strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities; excellent interpersonal skills; and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy and objectivity. Must work effectively with individuals at all levels and collaborate with other University offices such as Office of University Counsel, Office of Human Resources, and Office of the Dean of Students. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school is strongly preferred. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act.
