Job Summary This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The role effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity; maintains involvement in activities aimed toward achieving unit and department strategic goals; and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for own practice, supporting the company’s philosophy of nursing. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Registered nurse diploma (Required). Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing (Preferred). Work Experience None (Required). Certifications Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice (Required). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (Required). Certification in a clinical specialty area (Preferred). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self‑directed. Ability to demonstrate good judgement. Job Duties Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families and other groups or disciplines. Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly; serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes. Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style. Performs other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Heavy Work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Frequent lifting beyond typical sedentary work limits. Exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, and potential communicable diseases. Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or waste. Other Responsibilities Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
