Make a real difference supporting students as a paraprofessional! This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work alongside educators at a dynamic middle school setting, located near West Hartford, CT. You'll work one-on-one with an 8th grade student, providing consistency and meaningful academic, behavioral, and emotional support through the school day. The assignment runs immediately through June 11, with a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 am to 2:40 pm, and a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Your day-to-day efforts will give a student the tools they need to succeed. If you have a compassionate approach and experience working with students with behavioral needs, you’ll thrive in this vital role.

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous paraprofessional experience, especially supporting students presenting behavioral challenges
• Background working with middle and/or secondary school students is preferred
• Completion of required state trainings (specifics provided upon onboarding)
• Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion at all times

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized academic and behavioral support to an assigned 8th grade student
• Employ suitable classroom management and de-escalation techniques as needed
• Assist with academics, social interactions, and transitions throughout the school day
• Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to adapt strategies and interventions
• Track student progress, document observations, and participate in team meetings
