Part-Time, Live-Out Family Assistant Needed – Larchmont, NY

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: Saturday–Sunday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (approximately 18 hours/week), with flexibility as the family’s weekend schedule may change. Occasional pre-arranged overnights may be needed. Work 49 weekends a year.

Compensation: $35–$40/hour, depending on experience, Sick Days, Personal Days, Year-End/Other Bonus

About the Family

A warm and busy family in Larchmont, NY is seeking an experienced, intuitive, and proactive Family Assistant to help care for their toddler and baby while also assisting with light household organization and family-related tasks.

Both parents work from home full-time and are actively involved in the children’s day-to-day care. The ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable working in partnership with the parents, understands when to step in and provide childcare support, and can intuitively transition to helping with household tasks when appropriate. The family is looking for someone with a calm, socially aware presence who can read the family’s cues and needs.

The family has two children, a toddler and a baby , as well as a 30-pound dog.

The toddler loves imaginary play and would thrive with someone creative who enjoys child-led play, arts, crafts, drama, storytelling, and other engaging activities. The family is specifically looking for someone who is nurturing and genuinely enjoys interacting with young children rather than relying on screens or a phone for entertainment.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, attentive care for a toddler and baby
• Engage the toddler in imaginative, child-led play
• Plan and participate in creative activities including arts, crafts, drama, and storytelling
• Feed the toddler and provide occasional bottle feeding for the baby
• Keep the children’s playroom and areas tidy
• Assist with children’s laundry
• Help tidy and organize kitchen areas
• Assist with household organizational projects, including closets, pantry, toys, and other spaces
• Run family errands as needed
• Drive using your own vehicle
• Proactively assist wherever needed throughout the day
• Work collaboratively with parents who are home and actively involved with the children
• Travel with the family on domestic and international trips as needed
• Provide occasional overnight care when pre-arranged

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience caring for infants and toddlers
• Warm, nurturing, intuitive, and engaging
• Creative and comfortable with imaginative, child-led play
• Proactive and able to anticipate the needs of the family
• Organized and comfortable helping with household projects
• Socially aware and able to read cues in a busy family environment
• Comfortable working alongside parents who are home during the day
• Flexible and willing to transition between childcare and household assistance
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
• CPR/First Aid certified
• High school diploma or GED
• Comfortable with a household that limits phone use and does not rely on screen time
• Fragrance-conscious, as some family members have fragrance allergies
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally is a strong plus
