Surgery Scheduler Coordinator

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Surgery Scheduler, you will be a critical orchestrator of complex operational logistics, ensuring seamless alignment of resources, personnel, and services. Every day, you will expertly manage intricate scheduling and resource allocation while meticulously entering and maintaining data. You will also produce schedules and oversee template maintenance. To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, strong communication, and proficiency with scheduling systems. Your proactive approach and commitment to operational precision are paramount. Responsibilities: Schedules all patient surgeries, along with any special procedures ordered for the Main Operating Room, Outpatient Surgery Center, and Off‑Site Anesthesia cases. Has in‑depth knowledge of case duration, including patient acuity and added time for trauma and other procedures based on the surgeon performing the case. Maintains knowledge of fellows’ and physicians’ schedules and special needs, using information to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure superior customer service. Understands conflict scheduling, takes necessary steps to avoid errors, provides accurate scheduling information for internal and external customers, and follows OR blocks for physicians or services. Verifies demographic information in the Hospital Information System, schedules pre‑admission testing appointments, prints surgery schedules, MD scheduling and activity reports, and checks all cases a day before surgery. Enters anesthesia and nursing assignments into the scheduling program, notifies team leaders of special equipment requests, calls sales reps when needed, and verifies and approves vendor visits through the Vendor Credentialing System.
