Health and Safety Advisor

What You Can Expect As the Health and Safety Advisor you will assist in the development and implementation of a Health and Safety (H&S) Management System that encompasses standards of excellence, programs, policies, procedures, and processes for ENGIE's Global Business Unit (GBU) Renewable & Flex Power North America. Your focus will be on supporting the Business Unit's project development, construction, and operational activities. You will be responsible for partnering with all staff to influence an organizational culture that leads to an injury-free working environment. Supports development and evolution of a H&S strategic plan in collaboration with executive leadership and H&S staff throughout ENGIE North America, addressing working environments in Renewables, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction, operations, and Green Hydrogen sites. Supports HSE database management and provides required monthly statistical reports to GBU Renewable & Flex Power North America corporate; tracks the performance and progress of action plans, programs and processes, including corrective action plans. Conducts regular onsite safety training, supervision, compliance audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and safety cultural assessments. Leads serious incident investigations into High Potential (HiPo) incidents, including those that result in a lost time accident, applying Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools to determine causal factors and identify countermeasures to prevent recurrence. Provides guidance and acts as a role model for GBU HSE full‑time professionals, site managers, front‑line supervisors and general foremen in the effective implementation of processes and procedures. Supports design of the GBU Renewable & Flex Power North America HSE Management System, researches new or revised OSHA regulatory requirements, anticipates changes, and updates processes and procedures with follow‑on training. Maintains positive rapport with field personnel, supporting a communication strategy that promotes leadership engagement and creates a culture where HSE is a principle, not a priority. Supports ISN requirements and operations, and Delivery to develop variances. Supports implementation of observation programs focused on pre‑job/task activities and ensures the Job Safety Plan process permeates down to the granularity of each specific task. Benchmarks current safe work procedures against a “Best in Class” standard and orchestrates plans to close identified gaps in coordination with the GBU Renewable & Flex Power North America H&S team. Coordinates reviews and gap analysis of contractor safety plans and procedures to ensure their standard is equal or more stringent than the GBU’s safety criteria and audits to ensure contractor H&S contractual obligations are understood and respected. Participates in process safety assessments on projects throughout the design phase. Develops and implements safe work management processes and programs, including risk assessment, Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out and Permit‑to‑Work. Carries out other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring A minimum Associate’s Degree in Safety Management, certifications in OSHA and CHST, Certified Safety Professional or other recognized BCSP certifications. Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in construction and operational phases, utility‑scale generation, or ten (10) years experience in lieu of an associate’s degree. Subject matter expert in OSHA (US) CFR 29 Parts 1910 / 1926. Mastery of root cause failure analysis tools and their application for recordable events, HiPo’s lost‑time accidents. Superior verbal, written, interpersonal, public speaking, facilitation, and presentation communication skills when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience with behavioral science and the psychology behind influencing change. Experience in commercial and industrial construction environments. High levels of emotional intelligence as a team leader in creating a desire‑based vs. compliance‑based safety culture. Proficiency in database management, Pareto analyses, and design of executive‑level dashboards / graphical displays. In‑depth knowledge of the change management process. Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy. Additional Details This is a field position requiring regular travel to operating assets and active construction projects. Must be available to travel domestically up to 75% of the time, with some overnight trips within the region and offices. Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record to use rental cars through ENGIE. Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies. Exposure to weather conditions is possible during duties. Position consists of roughly 50% indoor work and 50% outdoor work; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions. May involve lifting up to 50 lbs. Compensation Salary Range: $107,100 – $150,000 USD annually This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
