Senior BI Developer - Power BI & Cognos

Senior Bi Developer Randstad is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior BI Developer with deep expertise in Power BI and IBM Cognos to support one of our premier federal clients in Washington, DC. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional who excels in translating business needs into actionable insights through interactive dashboards and reports. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in data modeling, transformation, and visualization using Power BI, while also maintaining and enhancing legacy reporting in Cognos. This is a hybrid role that requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models using DAX and Power Query Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective BI solutions Migrate and modernize existing reports from Cognos to Power BI where appropriate Maintain and enhance existing IBM Cognos reports in both development and production environments Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance across all reporting solutions Utilize Power BI Service for sharing, publishing, and collaborating on reports and dashboards Create and optimize SQL queries for data analysis and reporting Work with multi-dimensional and relational data structures Stay up to date with BI best practices, tools, and industry trends Support end-to-end BI project lifecycles, from requirements gathering through deployment and maintenance Samprasoft
