Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU Experience Preferred

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position. Shifts are 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with 3 shifts per week totaling 36 hours. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other.

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will assess patients' respiratory care needs, plan, organize, perform, and evaluate treatment modalities to deliver optimal care. The role emphasizes creating an exceptional patient and family experience by enhancing all customer interactions.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings.
• Establish and communicate appropriate care plans with the patient care team.
• Administer routine therapeutic modalities, including aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy.
• Manage mechanical ventilators according to established protocols.
• Provide age-specific education to patients and families regarding disease management.
• Assist in intra-hospital transport of patients on mechanical ventilation.
• Conduct acute airway management in emergency situations.
• Set up and manage non-invasive monitoring equipment.
• Assist with discharge planning for respiratory-related durable medical equipment.
• Adhere to regulatory and safety standards.
• Collect arterial blood gas samples and process via point-of-care analyzers.
• Function as a Shift Coordinator when designated after one year of employment.
• Assist the medical team in fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures.
• Preceptor for orientees and students during clinical rotations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program (Required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Preferred experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
