Direct Counsel is seeking a Bankruptcy & Restructuring Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join a premier restructuring and insolvency practice in New York. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated Chapter 11 proceedings, complex corporate restructurings, out-of-court workouts, and insolvency-related litigation alongside a highly regarded team of restructuring professionals.

The ideal candidate will have experience representing debtors and creditors in bankruptcy and restructuring matters and be comfortable managing multiple significant matters in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Represent debtors, creditors, committees, and other stakeholders in Chapter 11 proceedings and corporate restructurings
• Advise clients on bankruptcy strategy, restructuring transactions, and insolvency-related matters
• Draft and negotiate pleadings, motions, restructuring agreements, financing documents, and related transaction materials
• Support clients in out-of-court workouts, recapitalizations, and special situations transactions
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex bankruptcy and restructuring issues
• Assist with insolvency-related litigation, investigations, and contested matters
• Collaborate closely with partners, clients, financial advisors, and other professionals on high-stakes matters

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience
• Experience with Chapter 11 proceedings and corporate restructurings
• Experience representing debtors and creditors in bankruptcy matters preferred
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
• Outstanding academic credentials
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and communication skills
• Comparable law firm experience required
• Judicial clerkship experience preferred
• J.D. required
• Active New York Bar admission required

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $250,000 – $325,000
