Step into a role where your craft runs the show. As a CNC Horizontal Boring Bar Machinist, you’ll operate large-scale CNC boring equipment to translate blueprints into finished components—on time, to spec, and to the highest standards of quality and throughput.

You clock in and review process sheets and component drawings. You preset CNC tooling, load program tapes/files, and make on-machine edits as needed. With cranes and jib hoists certified under your belt, you rig the job safely—chains, slings, battery magnet at the ready—then bring the spindle to life. Throughout the run, you verify dimensions with precision metrology, log paperwork that travels with each part, and perform random ISO-driven inspections. Between cycles, you keep the area 5S clean, touch up small twist drills on the grinder, and prep the next setup so production never misses a beat.

• Set up and run large CNC boring bars to blueprint and process sheet requirements.
• Load tapes/files and edit CNC programs to optimize part quality and takt time.
• Read and work from drawings, schematics, mini process sheets, and detailed dimensions.
• Use rules, levels, miters, and squares to verify angles and features.
• Operate internal shapers and perform presetting for CNC tooling.
• Grind small twist drills and maintain sharp, reliable tooling.
• Operate small hand and power tools; use precision measuring devices.
• Receive and maintain company certification to operate overhead cranes, jib hoists, and powered industrial forklifts.
• Perform daily equipment checks and basic rigging with chains and slings for jib/overhead cranes and battery magnets.
• Operate pedestal-mounted jib cranes for safe, efficient material moves.
• Inspect and mark materials; ensure parts and materials remain properly identified.
• Complete and maintain required documentation; ensure paperwork follows parts.
• Execute random quality inspections to meet ISO standards.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S expectations in the department.
• Consistently follow safety procedures, use required PPE, and work safely at all times.
• Engage in safety training, demonstrate competency, and surface/correct hazards or unsafe acts.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Pass a written and hands-on skills evaluation prior to hire.
• Solid math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide; work with decimals and fractions; read rulers and metric/standard tapes.
• Two or more years setting up, laying out, and operating large CNC boring bars (large horizontal boring bar experience preferred) or equivalent machining technical training.
• Ability to read blueprints and use hand, power, and precision measuring tools.
• Capability to lift and carry 50 lbs. over distances up to 100 feet.
• Comfort in a normal shop environment; willingness to work any shift and overtime.
