RN - Emergency Department Night Shift

Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a dynamic emergency department setting. This role emphasizes best practices, customer service, and professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory requirements. The position supports acute care units including medical, surgical, intensive care, pediatric, and perioperative services. Essential Responsibilities:
This position is based in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest area, offering night shift hours with flexible scheduling.
- Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term needs.
- Apply clinical expertise to assign patient care based on acuity and technical requirements.
- Engage in continuous learning and evidence-based practice to enhance skills and workplace quality.
- Deliver excellent patient and visitor relations, embodying core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and courage.
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams to manage expectations and ensure positive experiences.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise and supporting healthcare education programs.
- Prioritize safety for patients, guests, and staff by adhering to national safety standards, HIPAA, and just culture principles.
- Seek professional growth through certifications, advanced degrees, and leadership opportunities.
- Foster teamwork by motivating colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and mentoring peers.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent with at least five years of acute care experience if non-accredited.
- BSN preferred or required within five years of hire; MSN enrollment accepted for accelerated programs.
- Completion and maintenance of area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
- Active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board.
