Performs entry-level professional librarian duties; performs related duties as required.

Must be met by the day the application is submitted: Possession of a New York State Public Librarian's Professional Certificate. NOTE: If you have not previously submitted a copy of your professional library certificate to the Civil Service Commission, you must include a copy with your application.

CANDIDATES MUST HAVE BEEN LEGAL RESIDENTS OF NASSAU COUNTY AND/OR SUFFOLK COUNTY AND/OR WESTCHESTER COUNTY AND/OR THE FIVE BOROUGHS OF NEW YORK CITY FOR AT LEAST TWELVE MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE DATE OF THE WRITTEN TEST AND MAINTAIN RESIDENCY IN NASSAU COUNTY AND/OR SUFFOLK COUNTY AND/OR WESTCHESTER COUNTY AND/OR THE FIVE BOROUGHS OF NEW YORK CITY UNTIL APPOINTMENT FROM THE ELIGIBLE LIST ESTABLISHED AS A RESULT OF THIS EXAMINATION.

The Village of Freeport has a special residence requirement which must be satisfied.

NON-REFUNDABLE Processing Fee must be submitted for each separately numbered examination for which you apply. This fee must be paid by credit or debit card. CAREFULLY REVIEW THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ON THIS ANNOUNCEMENT TO ENSURE THAT YOU MEET THEM, AS THIS IS A NON-REFUNDABLE PROCESSING FEE. Applications submitted without proper payment will be rejected without review.

APPLICATION FEE WAIVER: A waiver of application fee will be allowed if you are unemployed and primarily responsible for the support of a household. In addition, a waiver of application fee will be allowed if you are determined eligible for Medicaid, or receiving Supplemental Security Income payments, or Public Assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families/Family Assistance or Safety Net Assistance) or are certified Job Training Partnership Act/Workforce Investment Act eligible through a State or local social service agency. Active-duty military service members and military veterans shall be exempt from the payment of application fees. All claims for application fee waiver are subject to verification. If you can verify eligibility for application fee waiver, when prompted to submit the application processing fee, choose the Fee Waiver option. Follow the directions regarding downloading and submitting the required fee waiver form.

There will be no written or oral test for this examination. If you meet the minimum qualifications, you will receive a rating based upon an evaluation of your training and experience against the duties of the position being tested. Candidates must first complete an online examination application and electronically submit it to the Nassau County Civil Service Commission. Applications will be reviewed twice a year as follows:

• Applications received by the last business day in July will be reviewed in August. Approved candidates will be sent a notice containing directions to a website address needed to complete a Training and Experience Questionnaire, which will be available September 1, and approved candidates will be required to complete and submit this questionnaire between September 1 and midnight, September 30. NOTE: Candidates may be credited with training and experience gained up to the date the Training and Experience Questionnaire was submitted.
• Applications received by the last business day of January will be reviewed in February. Approved candidates will be sent a notice containing directions to a website address needed to complete a Training and Experience Questionnaire. which will be available March 1, and approved candidates will be required to complete and submit this questionnaire between March 1 and midnight, March 31. NOTE: Candidates may be credited with training and experience gained up to the date the Training and Experience Questionnaire was submitted.

Passing candidates will be added to the continuous recruitment eligible list by the end of December and by the end of June.
