Make a lasting impact by supporting Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational setting. This full-time, contract role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a team of professionals while working primarily 1:1 with students in a supportive school environment. With a consistent set of school buildings and locations, you’ll foster meaningful relationships and contribute to students’ educational growth.
What we’re seeking:
- Completion of interpreter training and all required qualifications specific to the position
- Score of 3.5 or higher on the IEPA assessment
- Experience working in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
- Strong communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with DHH professionals and classroom support staff
- Ability to travel between assigned school buildings within a designated area as needed
- All required licensure, certifications, test scores, and training (please ensure your credentials are current and complete)
Key responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services primarily on a 1:1 basis to students, facilitating access to classroom content and activities
- Collaborate with DHH educators, fellow interpreters, and support teams to ensure student success
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines at all times
- Commit to consistency across the 2026–2027 school year within your assigned buildings
- Input and communicate caseload/grade level preferences when applying to optimize your placement
