About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief External Affairs Officer (CEAO) to join its Executive Leadership Team. The CEAO will be responsible for leading the organization's three key functions: Communications, Government Affairs, and Development. This C-suite executive will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's external voice, market position, and political strategy. The successful candidate will be the primary architect and steward of the company's brand, leading efforts to engage with the media, and representing the organization at high-profile events. Additionally, the CEAO will be accountable for the company's philanthropic and corporate partnership growth, with a focus on driving low-cost, reliable, carbon-free global energy systems. Candidates for the CEAO position should have at least 20 years' of experience in strategic communications, brand and marketing, institutional fundraising, and government affairs, with a proven track record of executive leadership. The role requires deep expertise in at least two of the three pillars and the ability to lead a bipartisan government affairs operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong professional network in the clean energy and climate sectors, and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from government officials to corporate leaders. Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to work nontraditional hours and travel as needed. The CEAO will be expected to be a strong people manager, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability within the team.
