Job Description
Job Title: Surgical Technologist

License: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification required


Must-Have: Recent EPIC experience


Description:
Facilitates physician performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.
Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.
Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure.
Constantly monitors the maintenance of the sterile field.


Education and Work Experience:
Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology required.
Relevant acute care experience preferred.


Essential Functions:
Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms.
Brings patient to the assigned operating room.
Passes instruments to surgeon during the procedure.
Anticipates surgeon's need for additional supplies.
Performs appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
Prepares and secures sterile dressings after incision closure.
Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure.
Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for the procedure.
Sets up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure.
Helps drape the sterile field.
Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
Assists other team members with cleaning the room for turnover.
Assists in prepping the room for the next patient.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
