We are looking for a Leasing Agent to join a residential community team in Montclair, New Jersey on a Contract basis. This position supports leasing operations and resident-facing administrative activities, helping create a smooth experience for prospective tenants and current residents alike. The ideal candidate brings strong customer service skills, sound organization, and the ability to manage leasing details in a fast-paced property environment.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome prospective residents, answer questions, and lead informative tours of available apartments and shared community spaces.

• Manage leasing inquiries from initial contact through follow-up, keeping prospect activity organized and moving opportunities forward.

• Guide applicants through each stage of the rental process, including document collection, form completion, and status communication.

• Prepare and maintain lease-related records such as applications, renewal documents, resident files, and move-in or move-out paperwork.

• Update resident and prospect information accurately within property management platforms and internal tracking systems.

• Respond to resident questions related to leases, renewals, and general property matters with professionalism and timely communication.

• Partner with property management and maintenance staff to confirm apartment availability and ensure units are ready for occupancy.

• Support occupancy goals by assisting with unit marketing efforts and helping maintain a strong leasing pipeline.

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Property Manager and assist with additional property office tasks as needed.

• Prior experience in leasing, residential property management, real estate support, or a customer-facing housing environment is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with prospects and residents.
• Proven ability to stay organized, manage multiple active leads, and maintain accurate records with close attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a detail-oriented, service-oriented setting and handling resident interactions with courtesy and confidence.
• Familiarity with property management software such as Yardi, Rent Café, AppFolio, or comparable systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, communication, and reporting.
• Knowledge of Fair Housing practices and standards is preferred.
• Experience supporting leasing activities, property administration, or related real estate operations is beneficial.
