Job Title: Filter Winding Technician

Job Description

The Filter Winding Technician assembles and repairs flame filters and circular flame arrestors using mechanical winding equipment and precision tools. This role combines hands-on mechanical assembly, blueprint and schematic reading, and basic building maintenance, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, quality, and attention to detail in an industrial production environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble flame filters and related components according to specifications and quality standards.
• Operate winding equipment to wind thin metal into circular flame arrestors following technical drawings and work instructions.
• Read and interpret schematics and blueprints to perform mechanical assembly and repairs accurately.
• Use hand tools and power tools to assemble, adjust, and repair mechanical components and equipment.
• Perform precision measurements with tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Conduct basic building maintenance tasks, including replacing filters and performing routine upkeep as needed.
• Assist with assembly and repair of industrial pressure vacuum release valves, ensuring correct configuration and function.
• Support pressure testing processes by preparing valves and components for testing in accordance with procedures.
• Handle equipment and components of varying weights, using lifting assistance and safe handling practices when required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the production facility.
• Collaborate effectively with a small team, communicating clearly about work status, issues, and improvement ideas.
• Multi-task across assembly, repair, measurement, and maintenance activities while meeting production timelines.
• Follow all quality control procedures to ensure products meet performance and safety requirements.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how mechanical systems and equipment function.
• Proficiency in mechanical assembly using hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints for assembly and repair work.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
• High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and measurement.
• Good understanding of mechanical equipment and its operation.
• Capability to work safely with equipment and components of varying weights, including use of lifting assistance.
• Ability to multi-task and manage several assembly and maintenance activities concurrently.
• Positive, cooperative attitude suitable for working within a small team environment.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and following established procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with valves in an industrial or mechanical setting preferred but not required.
• Prior experience in mechanical assembly or industrial production environments is beneficial.
• Experience in using precision measurement tools in a manufacturing or repair context is an advantage.
• Familiarity with pressure testing processes or industrial fluid control equipment is a plus.
• Comfort working in a growing organization and adapting to new processes and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and sharing technical information.

Work Environment

The role is based in a roughly square-foot production facility focused on assembling and repairing industrial pressure vacuum release valves and related components for industrial clients. Work is hands-on and performed around mechanical equipment and assembly stations, with pieces of equipment varying in weight and requiring lifting assistance or mechanical aids for safe handling. Each valve must be pressure tested and assembled correctly, so the environment emphasizes precision, safety, and adherence to procedures. You regularly use hand tools, power tools, winding equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. The setting is a modern, newly expanded facility designed for efficient production, where team members typically wear practical work attire suitable for an industrial shop floor and follow all safety and personal protective equipment guidelines.Experience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ladson, SC.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
