Accounts Payable Lead A well-established education organization in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Lead to join its accounting team on a temporary-to-hire basis. The Accounts Payable Lead will provide higher-level support to the AP department, handle supplier management, assist with month-end and year-end activities, review work and resolve discrepancies, and serve as a backup resource to the AP Manager when needed. This position does not directly supervise the AP staff but provides oversight and guidance on more complex AP matters. Key Responsibilities Manage supplier/vendor setup and maintenance. Support month-end, quarterly, and fiscal year-end closing activities. Perform and support account and credit card reconciliations. Assist with monthly uploads to the General Ledger. Review AP transactions and resolve discrepancies prior to processing. Serve as a point of contact for complex invoices, payment issues, and AP-related questions. Handle AP processes and transactions that fall outside routine invoice processing. Provide guidance and higher-level support to the Accounts Payable team. Serve as a backup resource to the AP Manager as needed. Assist with troubleshooting procurement and Accounts Payable workflow issues. Work within Oracle PeopleSoft and procure-to-pay systems. Collaborate with internal departments to resolve AP and supplier-related issues. Qualifications Strong Accounts Payable experience with responsibilities beyond basic invoice processing. Experience with vendor/supplier maintenance, reconciliations, month-end close, and GL-related activities. Solid understanding of accounting principles. Ability to research and resolve complex AP discrepancies. Experience providing guidance or oversight within an Accounts Payable team. PeopleSoft experience preferred, but candidates with other relevant ERP or procure-to-pay systems experience will be considered. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
