DIESEL MECHANIC

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Stoneham, Massachusetts—offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. The hourly pay is $35.75 an hour, with a certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700, quarterly bonus up to $500, tool box/allowance, Monday‑Friday schedule with weekends off, and second shift 3:00 pm–11:30 pm. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred). Basic tools, required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work. Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred). Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred). This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. You must: obtain a CDL within six months after hire; pass a Ryder drug test; pass a DOT physical; pass a Ryder road test; pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties. Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs. Perform preventive maintenance. Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable. Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required. Replace defective components as instructed. Perform facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task. Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available. Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT). Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support.
