Position Overview:

• The Production Lead directly supervises the Production Shift Machine Operators. 
• The Production Lead is also responsible for ensuring that Production, Shipping, and Receiving are coordinated effectively. 
• The Production Lead is responsible for Conducting the shift change processes and ensures there is adequate communication between Shift Leads to provide a smooth, and efficient transition between shifts. 
• The Production Lead is also responsible for ensuring efficient plant sort line operations and processing of products to meet shipping schedules. 

A candidate for this Lead Position must be able to present information effectively, confirm that the instructions were understood, verify that they are being performed as intended, and/or communicate in real time course corrections or changes needed to achieve the desired result.

The Lead will train, Coach, and provide daily leadership as daily priorities may vary. Addressing issues as the arise and providing a path forward for the team to resolve challenges as they occur. Although there is an office component to perform data entry – this is not an office job.

Position Specifics – Understanding is KEY :

• 15% Clerical Unput: Production reports, Sample data, Timecards, Downtime, and production reports. Teams activity – Chat, Supplier alerts, shipping coms, etc.
• 15% Hands On: Providing breaks on any number of machines (Loader, Forklift, Sennebogen or Skid-steer), Samples taking for COR/DEQ, aiding in the yard if traffic control is needed, manage battery shed sorting batteries by type
• 50% Observation: Making rounds and observing conditions of the yard and facility, directing activities to correct observations made. Watching each member of staff to learn and coach for best practice. Monitor Safety of EVERY operation, small space and moving parts provide opportunity. Observe employee behavior and work, are they exemplifying professionalism and using time wisely. Truck traffic and product delivered, bad loads, wrong product, take photos and report in Teams channels
• 20% Process: Walk the flow of materials to see Loading, Processing, Baling, Stacking, and loading of each grade. Sort line performance, follow through each machine component and understand the purpose and effectives of each step. Be able to identify and make corrections, stop the line if needed to correct, or advise need for help to determine best course of action.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high degree of visibility and access to employees across the shift to ensure productivity and effective employee relations. 
• When standards are not being met provide counseling, coaching, and progressive discipline as needed to correct unacceptable behaviors and/or substandard practices.
• Hold staff accountable for proper job performance, empower staff to work independently, and communicate the expectations to the staff to take ownership of the daily objectives as well as the results.
• Follow the daily and weekly plans and adjust activities to support the needs of the sort line as well as inbound and outbound product movements per the shipping schedule. 
• Work with the Production Supervisor to identify areas where development opportunities exist, provide positive coaching as well as corrective actions when unacceptable behavior or performance is noted.
• Enter production, yield rates, and perform daily inventory as needed.
• Perform and oversee proper P/Ms of the rolling stock to be performed by each Machine Operator.
• Support and enforce safe working habits, lead by example, and fosters best work practices. 
• Review overall workflow and ensure good run rates across the sort-line each day.
• Fill in as needed with rolling stock operators for breaks or when short-handed.
