The company currently manages 6 GW of installed capacity across multiple technologies, with additional renewable projects under construction and further development, and is accelerating decarbonization toward a predominantly renewable portfolio. Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid) Job Summary As a Development Associate you oversee key aspects of project development and due diligence for utility‑scale renewable energy projects. You lead cross‑functional project teams, manage issues proactively, and drive progress through structured communication, analytical decision‑making, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Lead cross‑functional development and due diligence teams spanning engineering, land, environmental, permitting, interconnection, legal, finance, commercial, and external developers. Drive team alignment, set priorities, manage timelines, and ensure accountability across all workstreams. Facilitate structured and efficient team meetings; monitor action items; and elevate key issues with clear recommendations. Provide concise, strategic updates to senior leadership regarding project needs, decisions, risks, and status. Act as the central point of coordination for both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships with utilities, consultants, developers, permitting agencies, and landowners. Present complex technical and commercial issues in a clear and actionable manner. Engage with senior leadership regularly to communicate resource needs, project decisions, and risk mitigation strategies. Identify issues, involve stakeholders, and develop collaborative solutions using data and logical reasoning. Make informed recommendations promptly and escalation when appropriate. Help identify, create, refine, and implement development processes, tools, and workflows, building scalable, repeatable models. Lead acquisition‑focused due diligence for project acquisitions, coordinating technical, environmental, legal, commercial, financial and land reviews, and preparing red‑flag reports and risk assessments. Participate in early‑stage screening of greenfield opportunities using GIS, constraints analysis and market research, and coordinate outreach and site evaluation with land teams. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Environmental Science, Economics, Renewable Energy, or related field. 3–5 years of renewable energy industry experience across development, engineering, procurement, interconnection, finance, accounting, valuation, or permitting. Demonstrated ability to self‑direct and lead project teams effectively. Comfortable with project budgets, models and other analytical knowledge. Strong problem‑solving abilities with a structured, logical approach to decision‑making. Action‑oriented and proactive, driving projects forward while maintaining professionalism under pressure. Prepared and presented updates, presentations and recommendations to senior leadership. Adaptable to evolving processes and capable of building and improving systems as the team grows. Familiarity with U.S. ISO/RTO markets (ERCOT, CAISO, SPP, PJM, MISO, NYISO); experience in multiple markets preferred. Willingness to travel approximately 25 % of the time.
