Strategic Project Manager

Role Description

Are you passionate about technology and innovation in industrial equipment automation? We are looking for a Strategic Project Manager to join our dynamic team, where you'll play a key role in driving cutting-edge automation projects for the pork industry.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with business partners and cross-functional teams to understand automation needs and translate them into innovative solutions. As a trusted authority in project management with equipment automation, this role tackles the most complex challenges, turning visionary concepts into reality.

What You’ll Do

• Design Work:
  • Develop preliminary designs and specifications for engineering and materials.
  • Prepare project cost estimates.
  • Conduct research, feasibility studies, and economic studies.
  • Determine design criteria based on required standards and codes.
  • Validate field work and create as-built drawings.
  • Review and check engineering projects for accuracy and soundness.
  • Manage project execution by guiding vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinate project schedules with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors.
• Design Implementation:
  • Coordinate and provide direction to equipment vendors.
  • Review work products submitted by consultants and offer recommendations.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including manuals and drawings.
• Reports and Proposals:
  • Conduct engineering planning, design, and operational reviews.
  • Determine the scope of work and prepare requests for proposals.
  • Evaluate proposals received to select the best approach.
  • Submit detailed reports to management by established deadlines.
• Review of Bids and Project Preparation:
  • Responsible for contract administration and reviewing bid packages.
  • Prepare essential project documents, such as justifications and budget analyses.
  • Monitor installations to ensure compliance with specifications and budgets.
  • Manage assigned budget activities for financial control.
  • Continuously improve robotic and controls knowledge.
• People Management:
  • Drive a positive employee experience through leadership and coaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years’ experience in a position of leadership, including team development and management.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.
• Project Management skills; Contract Administration skills; National codes and standards interpretation skills.
• Proficient in engineering economics.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word processing software.
• Energized by collaboration through travel to other locations (50% of the time).

• Previous experience in the management of multi-million dollar projects with large scopes.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Majority of the time spent in an office setting outside of the production plant.
• Plant environment includes wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud in the production area.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Frequently required to sit, use hands, and talk or hear.

Compensation

The expected pay range for this position is $105,000 - $140,000 annually. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, location, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable positions.
