Plant Maintenance Technician

Plant Maintenance Technician will perform tasks related to preventative maintenance, mechanical and electrical machine repairs, inspection and testing of equipment, building maintenance, and specific projects. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, and Reliability. This is a multi‑craft role that requires technical knowledge and expertise in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and welding functions. Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is ideal. Responsibilities Maintain all production machinery and facility equipment by quickly troubleshooting and completing repairs in a safe, good and workmanlike manner. Assist in the development and maintenance of equipment preventative maintenance program to optimize operational life of each machine. Observe the operation of equipment and make recommendations for operator training and instructions as required. Recommend additional critical spare parts to ensure that repairs can be completed with limited equipment downtime. Assist in the successful completion of projects from initial brainstorming to final project implementation. Complete all assigned Preventative Maintenance services on time. Assist and respond to restroom problems Service and repair HVAC equipment – EPA 608 certification is a plus Assist with eye wash system checks and service Support all continual improvement activities. Must be able to work independently Good problem‑solving skills Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions Ability to use technology Technical Skills and Experience Electrical Understanding of electrical schematics and documentation 480V 3 phase troubleshooting and wiring Ability to install or modify conduit Low voltage controls VFDs Mechanical Welding to include: MIG, TIG, Arc and Brazing Strong mechanical aptitude Pneumatic and hydraulic systems operation Mill and lathe use a plus Controls PLC knowledge includes troubleshooting and program understanding. IDEC PLC experience and knowledge a plus Manufacturing Familiar with weigh scales, pneumatic bulk conveying and case erectors Utilities, boilers, and air compressors Safety and Compliance Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE, and follow OSHA regulations. Knowledge and use of Lock out Tag out procedures Maintain a high level of situational awareness to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of yourself and others. Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly. Essential Job Functions Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the facility. Set up and proficiently use drills, saws, grinders, welders, torches, ammeters, multimeters, and other typical maintenance and shop tools and equipment. Efficiently troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facility equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Complete scheduled and assigned work Define, organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Maintain maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion. Operate material handling equipment safely. Safely operate pickup truck to retrieve parts or other supplies Locate, read, interpret and execute both facility’s and manufacturers’ instructions, operation and service manuals, drawings, and other technical information. Provide support to team in preventative maintenance. Participate and actively support all plant initiatives. Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with QEP’s core values. Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50lbs or more. Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe products that meet regulatory and company requirements.
