Production Supervisor

Salary Range: $75,689.00 To $87,025.00 Annually Production Supervisor To plan, organize and control production, ensuring goods are produced efficiently and on time within budget and to standard. This position oversees production lines and operations in the bakery under the supervision of the Production Manager and Plant Manager to ensure quality of product and delivery to distribution. Responsible for direct supervision of production associates and works closely with all other departments in the bakery, including maintenance, sanitation, and shipping. The production supervisor is responsible for the production of baked finished good products, product quality, completion of production order in a timely manner and with adequate quality, ensuring GMP and HACCP compliance and housekeeping. Key Job Responsibilities Demonstrates supports of General Bakery Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ensures adherence to all quality requirements including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Provides leadership, training and coaching with associates to create a culture of inclusion and engagement. Responsible for ensuring and maintaining a safe work environment through compliance with all Company, Local, State and Federal mandates or programs. Create a Continuous Improvement environment by improving products, service, and processes with the objective to reduce waste while striving for efficiency and profitability. Responsible for start-up, changeovers, production run and end of run/week, including calculating orders, checking dough sheet, equipment condition and time and temperature settings. Monitors product quality; making formula changes as directed and tracks changes. Completes staff scheduling to ensure production lines are adequately staffed. Irregular hours or periodic overtime required. Occasional exposure to extreme weather situations. Must be able to work in an area that contains dust, fumes, chemicals, heat, cold, noise levels higher than normal and heights. Protective equipment is provided. Executes and maintains records for all phases of production relative to safety, food safety, key performance indicators, and order completion. Responsible for creating, following and enforcing procedures outlined in the process, Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the process, food safety and quality systems and other 3rd party audits. Ensures compliance with AIB standards, Company policies and government regulations and any other certifications. Conducts incident investigations, responsible for reporting processes and ensuring any identified preventative actions are completed. Review sales order and develop and/or follow a production schedule that will meet demands. Lead and motivate associates to maximize productivity and minimize operating costs. Drive department compliance with established safety, GMP, and QCP training and ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and all regulatory agencies. Examines manufacturing equipment to ensure that it works properly and meets all applicable standards and develops a plan for corrective action as needed along with maintenance and sanitation team. Develops, tracks and maintains training programs related to the assigned team. Participate in and lead LEAN manufacturing activities as needed (Team huddles, 5’s, KPI’s performance improvement, 5 Why’s, corrective actions). Computer skills and proficiency, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is required. Bilingual is a plus – English/Spanish is preferred. Education / Certifications Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted. AIB (American Institute of Baking) certification preferred. Knowledge / Skills 2 years or more in a leadership capacity, experience in production, preferably in the food industry or manufacturing. AIB certification is a plus as well with GFSI. LSS Green Belt is a plus or experience working on teams during Kaizen, SME or DMAIC events. Working knowledge of computers, including MS office applications. Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Demonstrate ability to motivate and train employees within a team-oriented environment.
