Talent Acquisition Manager
Location: In Person | New York City Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Compensation: $70,000–$85,000
About the Role
At Alts, we are redefining the tailoring industry through exceptional craftsmanship, elevated client experiences, and a deep commitment to our people.
We are looking for a resourceful and relationship-driven Talent Acquisition Manager to support recruiting across our growing network of studios and Central Office. This is a hands-on role focused on finding, engaging, and hiring exceptional talent—especially skilled tailoring professionals.
Approximately 65% of the role will focus on tailoring positions, including Production Tailors, Fitter Tailors, Master Tailors, Bridal Specialists, and Tailor Shop Managers. These searches require creativity, persistence, community outreach, and relationship building because many of the strongest candidates are not actively applying for jobs.
The remaining 35% will support Studio Operations and selected Central Office searches. You will work closely with hiring managers and HR to understand hiring needs, maintain strong candidate pipelines, and provide a thoughtful and professional experience throughout the recruiting process.
This role will also serve as the main point of contact between the leadership team and a small recruiting team consisting of one Recruiting Coordinator and one Recruiter/Sourcer. You will help organize priorities, keep communication clear, and ensure the recruiting process moves smoothly while remaining actively involved in priority searches.
Our Values: S.C.O.R.E.
Our values guide how we work and how we hire:
- Solve with Skill & Creativity: Approach difficult searches with curiosity and resourcefulness.
- Craft with Care: Treat every candidate interaction with preparation, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Own the Outcome: Follow through on commitments, communicate challenges early, and stay accountable for your work.
- Respect What Matters: Build trust through honesty, empathy, and transparency.
- Elevate Every Experience: Create a candidate experience that reflects the hospitality and professionalism of Alts.
What You'll Do
Skilled Tailoring Recruitment
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for priority tailoring roles, including Production Tailors, Fitter Tailors, Master Tailors, Bridal Specialists, Tailoring Apprentices, Senior Tailors, and Tailor Shop Managers.
- Source candidates through direct outreach, referrals, networking, social media, industry groups, community engagement, and local market research.
- Build and maintain relationships with tailoring professionals, including passive candidates, for current and future openings.
- Develop connections with trade schools, sewing and fashion programs, tailoring communities, bridal networks, dry cleaners, luxury retailers, and garment-industry organizations.
- Test new sourcing channels and share recommendations based on candidate quality and results.
- Keep tailoring pipelines organized, current, and ready to support recurring hiring needs.
Studio Operations and Central Office Recruitment
- Manage assigned searches across Studio Operations and Central Office, including studio experience, studio management, client experience, HR, Learning & Development, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Technology, and Executive Support roles.
- Meet with hiring managers to clarify the role, candidate profile, interview process, and hiring timeline.
- Screen and interview candidates, coordinate next steps, support reference checks, and assist with offer-stage communication.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with candidates and internal partners throughout each search.
Pipeline, Process, and Partnerships
- Build proactive pipelines for recurring and difficult-to-fill roles.
- Maintain accurate candidate and recruiting activity in the ATS and other recruiting tools.
- Track hiring progress and flag risks, delays, or changes in the market early.
- Share practical market insights related to compensation, candidate availability, and sourcing challenges.
- Recommend improvements to job postings, sourcing approaches, interview workflows, and candidate communication.
- Participate in career fairs, school visits, community events, and industry networking opportunities as needed.
- Support recruiting campaigns and referral initiatives in partnership with HR and Marketing.
Hiring and New-Hire Coordination
- Coordinate with HR, Learning & Development, and Operations to support a smooth transition from accepted offer to first day.
- Ensure candidate information and required hiring documentation are handed off accurately and on time.
- Gather feedback from hiring managers and new hires to help improve recruiting quality and candidate experience.
- Review early retention and hiring feedback with HR to identify patterns and strengthen future searches.
Recruiting Team Coordination
- Serve as the main point of contact between the recruiting team and company leadership.
- Translate hiring priorities into a clear and organized workflow for the Recruiting Coordinator and Recruiter/Sourcer.
- Coordinate open roles, timelines, interview steps, and follow-up to keep the recruiting process moving smoothly.
- Provide leadership with clear updates on hiring progress, pipeline status, and any delays or support needed.
- Help resolve day-to-day recruiting questions and flag larger concerns to HR leadership when needed.
How Success Will Be Measured
- Progress and consistency in filling priority roles
- Strength and activity of tailoring talent pipelines
- Quality and fit of candidates presented
- Candidate responsiveness and experience
- Offer acceptance rate
- Accuracy and organization of recruiting records
- Hiring-manager communication and satisfaction
- Smooth recruiting workflow, clear communication, and timely follow-through
- Early retention and hiring-quality feedback
- Effectiveness of sourcing channels and community partnerships
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience.
- Demonstrated success sourcing difficult-to-fill, specialized, or hourly operational talent.
- Strong direct-sourcing, networking, and candidate-engagement skills.
- Ability to build relationships with passive candidates and community partners.
- Strong interviewing, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple active searches.
- Experience using an ATS, LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, and other sourcing tools.
- Comfort working independently while collaborating closely with hiring managers and HR.
- A proactive, accountable mindset and willingness to suggest solutions when a search is not producing results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating recruiting workflows, projects, or a small recruiting team.
- Experience recruiting within tailoring, fashion, luxury retail, manufacturing, hospitality, skilled trades, or another craftsmanship-driven industry.
- Experience recruiting for a multi-location organization.
- Experience building relationships with trade schools, vocational programs, or community organizations.
- Experience recruiting a mix of operational and office-based roles.
Who You Are
- Resourceful: You keep looking for new paths when traditional sourcing does not work.
- Relationship-Driven: You build trust with candidates, hiring managers, and community partners.
- Hands-On: You enjoy sourcing, outreach, interviewing, and moving searches forward.
- A Strong Coordinator: You create clarity, keep people aligned, and ensure the recruiting process moves forward smoothly.
- Proactive: You identify risks early, communicate clearly, and bring possible solutions.
- Accountable: You follow through on commitments and maintain high standards for your work.
- Highly Organized: You manage multiple searches without losing attention to detail or candidate experience.
- Collaborative: You welcome feedback and work well with HR, hiring managers, and operational leaders.
