AP Specialist

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Washington, DC that is seeking an AP Specialist.Summary:The Entry-Level Accounts Payable Specialist will support the day-to-day processing and maintenance of the organization's accounts payable function. This position is responsible for accurately processing invoices, maintaining vendor records, assisting with payment processing, and supporting the accounting team with reconciliations and other AP-related activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build hands-on experience in Accounts Payable and general accounting operations.Key Responsibilities:

• Process and accurately code vendor invoices in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation as applicable
• Enter invoices and payment information into the organization's accounting/ERP system
• Review invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and appropriate account coding
• Assist with weekly, biweekly, or monthly vendor payment processing
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records
• Research and resolve basic invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries
• Assist with AP reconciliations and month-end close activities
• Prepare and maintain AP reports and supporting documentation
• Assist with vendor statement reconciliations
• Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoice and payment status
• Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical AP records
• Assist with 1099 reporting and other year-end AP activities as needed
• Support internal and external audits by providing AP documentation
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Skills

• High School diploma/GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
• 0-2 years of Accounts Payable, accounting, finance, or administrative experience
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Comfortable working with numbers and financial data
• Some sort of business experience
• Excel skills (analysis to be done) some ad hoc work
• Proficiency - understand the function of Excel and Analize data - v-lookups and some-ifs

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.


We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
