Assistant Controller - Private Equity

Position Overview

We are partnered with a leading global private equity investment firm seeking a Senior Fund Accountant / Assistant Controller to join its growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fund accounting professional to take on significant responsibility across fund accounting, financial reporting, investor reporting, valuations, and fund operations .

The individual will work closely with senior members of the Finance and Investment teams and will have exposure to a diverse portfolio of private equity funds and investments. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting processes while also contributing to new fund launches, process improvements, valuation initiatives, and broader finance projects .

Key Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Oversee the accounting and financial reporting for multiple private equity funds and related entities
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Manage and review capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, and LP notices
• Prepare and review waterfall calculations, including carried interest and allocation methodologies
• Reconcile and analyze portfolio company activity, including investments, realizations, income, and other transactions
• Review fund-level trial balances, general ledgers, and supporting schedules
• Coordinate with external fund administrators and ensure accurate and timely deliverables

Valuations & Investment Accounting

• Support the valuation process for private equity investments and portfolio companies
• Work closely with the Investment and Valuation teams to analyze investment performance and pricing
• Prepare valuation exhibits, supporting schedules, and materials for valuation committees
• Review investment activity and ensure appropriate accounting treatment for acquisitions, dispositions, and other transactions
• Assist with quarterly and year-end valuation and reporting processes

Investor Reporting & Fund Operations

• Support investor reporting and respond to ad-hoc LP inquiries
• Process and review subscriptions, contributions, distributions, and investor allocations
• Review and provide financial input on PPMs, DDQs, marketing materials, side letters, and other investor documentation
• Support investor onboarding and ongoing maintenance of investor records
• Assist with new fund launches, fund restructurings, and other strategic initiatives

Process Improvement & Special Projects

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting, reporting, and fund operations processes
• Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Participate in accounting system enhancements, technology implementations, and automation initiatives
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects across the Finance organization
• Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the firm's fund finance infrastructure
