Operations Manager / Inside Sales

Direct Hire | $70,000-$75,000 Annual Salary

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Operations Manager / Inside Sales professional for a direct hire opportunity. This role combines operational oversight with inside sales responsibilities, supporting construction-related customers. The ideal candidate will have construction industry inside sales experience, strong estimating and quoting expertise, inventory management knowledge, and the willingness to assist with light warehouse duties when needed.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring exceptional customer service, accurate order processing, inventory coordination, and on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Inside Sales & Customer Relations

• Process inbound customer inquiries via phone, email, and walk-in traffic.
• Prepare quotes and convert opportunities into sales orders.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships with utility contractors, directional drilling contractors, municipalities, and related construction clients.
• Provide product recommendations and technical support to customers.

Estimating & Quoting

• Prepare accurate project estimates and quotations.
• Source materials and components from an extensive manufacturer network to support customer projects.
• Support the company's 'One Call, One Quote' approach by assembling comprehensive project packages.

Operations & Inventory Management

• Maintain inventory accuracy and monitor product availability.
• Coordinate inventory replenishment and assist with stock management.
• Work closely with warehouse and purchasing teams to ensure efficient order fulfillment.

BABA Compliance & Documentation

• Track and verify that materials comply with Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements for federally funded projects.
• Maintain documentation and compliance records as required.

Logistics & Order Expediting

• Follow up on purchase orders and customer orders.
• Coordinate with vendors, carriers, and warehouse personnel regarding shipment status.
• Provide customers with freight tracking updates and delivery schedules.
• Ensure products arrive at customer yards and project sites on schedule.

Warehouse Support

• Assist with light warehouse duties as needed.
• Support receiving, organizing, and staging materials.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of Inside Sales experience within the Construction, Utility, Electrical, Underground Utility, Telecommunications, or related industry.
• Experience estimating and preparing customer quotes.
• Strong inventory management and operations experience.
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business software systems.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with vendors, manufacturers, and logistics providers.
• Ability to occasionally perform light warehouse activities and lift up to 25-50 lbs. as needed.
