Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lead Machinist to join our team in Charlton, MA. This is a direct hire opportunity, meaning you will be hired directly by the employer from your first day. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC machining experience, leadership skills, and the ability to oversee production schedules while ensuring quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and/or CNC milling machines.
• Plan, oversee, and schedule manufacturing jobs assigned by the Plant Manager
• Ensure all work is completed and delivered on or before customer due dates.
• Coordinate secondary operations, including heat treating and plating, with the Purchasing department.
• Schedule work using the most efficient equipment, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
• Complete jobs within quoted production times while maintaining quality standards.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
• Supervise and provide direction to hourly employees working on assigned projects and within the machining department.
• Perform skilled machining, bench work, machine operation, and assembly as needed.
• Assist with preparing estimates and support the estimating process for individual parts and complete projects.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
• Ensure compliance with company quality standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Proven experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and/or CNC mills.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a machine shop environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, blueprints, and precision measurement equipment.
• Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet production deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills

Hours are:

Monday through Friday – 7am to 3:30pm

The pay is up to $38.00 an hour
