Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Location: Manteno, IL
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire
Target Pay Rate: $20.00 – $27.00/hour

Job Summary:
The Accounting Clerk will support day-to-day Finance and Accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, invoice processing, reconciliations, vendor and customer communication, and month-end activities. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career candidate looking to gain hands-on accounting experience and grow within a Finance team.

Must Have Skills:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to investigate discrepancies and solve problems
• Previous accounting experience is a plus, but not required

Job Duties:

• Process invoices and verify information against purchase orders and receiving records
• Enter and code invoices into the accounting system and route for approval
• Assist with vendor payments, ACH, checks, and wire transfers
• Investigate and resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies
• Perform vendor statement and AP/AR reconciliations
• Record and apply customer payments and assist with customer invoicing
• Communicate with vendors, customers, Purchasing, Receiving, and internal departments
• Maintain accurate records of invoices, payments, reconciliations, and correspondence
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities and journal entries
• Prepare reports and financial information as requested
• Support audits, process improvements, system upgrades, and other accounting projects

Qualifications:

• Accounting, Finance, Business, or related education preferred
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
• Relevant coursework, internships, bookkeeping, work-study, or entry-level accounting experience will be considered
• ERP or accounting software experience preferred; D365 Business Central is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
• Eagerness to learn new systems, processes, and accounting responsibilities
