Facilities Services Technician

Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys helping people, collaborating, and taking pride in maintaining safe, welcoming communities? We are seeking a Facilities Services Technician to support maintenance at two affordable housing properties located in Racine, WI approximately 15 minutes apart.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong maintenance skills, excellent communication abilities, and a positive, can-do attitude. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and able to prioritize competing work orders while providing exceptional service to residents and staff.

The position will be between 20-40 hours per week with on-call responsibility.

What You'll Do:

As a Facility Services Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining safe, comfortable, and welcoming homes for our residents. Responsibilities include:

• Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to maintenance requests and prioritize work orders based on urgency and resident needs.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours calls.
• Perform minor electrical repairs, including replacing outlets, switches, fixtures, ballasts, bulbs, fuses, and related components.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs, including repairing leaks, faucets, toilets, drains, and related fixtures.
• Complete painting, carpentry, drywall, masonry, and general repair projects.
• Install, repair, and replace household appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, microwaves, washers, and dryers.
• Repair and maintain doors, locks, hardware, closures, and related building components.
• Replace ceiling tiles and perform other interior building repairs.
• Clear drain and toilet blockages using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Assist with furniture and equipment moves, setups, and re-configurations.
• Monitor trash and recycling areas and coordinate proper waste management.
• Assist with routine testing and maintenance of fire, life safety, and emergency systems.
• Respond to facility emergencies including power outages, water leaks, gas-related concerns, and elevator emergencies.
• Assist with snow removal during scheduled shifts and when needed during emergencies.
• Maintain a professional and positive relationship with residents, visitors, vendors, and team members.
• Promote the organization's mission, vision, and values through excellent customer service.

What We Are Looking For:

The successful candidate will bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of maintenance, facilities, property management, or related experience.
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to travel between two work locations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to handle interruptions and changing priorities.
• Ability to lift, carry, move, and work safely with maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
