Clinical Psychologist V, VI – Hawaii District Administration Hawaiʻi State Department of Education Description This posting is used to fill Clinical Psychologist VI positions that provide services to students at various schools within the Hawaii District as needed and assigned by the Hawaii District Administration Office. The authorized level of the positions is Clinical Psychologist VI. Applications are being accepted down to the Clinical Psychologist V in the event of recruiting difficulties. Salary All new external applicants will be placed on the initial step of the salary range. Placement above the initial step will be based on special characteristics, critical needs of the position, exceptional qualifications, availability of funds, and other factors. Such appointments require prior approval and are in accordance with Department regulations. Clinical Psychologist V, SR‑24: $6,043.00 – $7,351.00 per month Clinical Psychologist VI, SR‑26: $6,535.00 – $7,952.00 per month Examples of Duties Perform professional work concerning the development and application of theories, principles, methods, and techniques related to individual and group behavior, especially for those with personality, social, emotional adjustment, or mental retardation issues. Perform professional work in clinical psychology at a level of professional maturity. Provide psycho‑diagnostic, psychotherapeutic, and consultative services. Perform work in prevention, training, and/or research. Some positions may include supervision over multidisciplinary staff performing program services in their respective areas of competence. Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications General Requirements (Applicants must satisfy at least one of the following): Doctoral degree in clinical psychology with an internship, or one year of professional work experience in the field. Doctoral degree in a related specialty with required internship or post‑doctoral internship; or equivalent experience. Doctoral degree from an APA‑approved program or a regionally accredited institution meeting National Register requirements. Diplomate certificate in good standing from the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology. Valid license to practice psychology in Hawaii. For Level VI, applicants must also possess a minimum of one additional year of professional clinical psychology experience involving psycho‑diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to individuals with severe problems of personality, social, emotional adjustment, or mental retardation, comparable to Level V in the State service. Quality of Experience Possession of the required number of years of experience will not be accepted as proof of qualification alone. The applicant’s overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position. Licensed Required Within two years from the date of appointment as a Clinical Psychologist V or higher, the applicant must meet licensing requirements and obtain a license issued by the Hawaii State Board of Psychology, as required by Chapter 465, HRS. Failure to obtain the license within two years may result in termination from State service. Driver’s License Requirement Some positions require applicants to possess a current, valid Driver’s License. Please indicate if you are interested in positions with this requirement. Supplemental Information Salary: The advertised salary is based on full‑time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable. Requirements: Applicants must meet all specified requirements for the position at the time of application, unless otherwise stated. Experience calculation follows full‑time, 40‑hour weeks; part‑time experience is prorated. Temporary Assignment TAs may be used to meet minimum qualifications and must be verified with one of the following: A copy of the applicant’s TA History Report or equivalent. A signed letter from the applicant’s supervisor detailing TA job title, dates, duties, and hours. Copies of the applicant’s signed SF‑10 Forms. Documents Attach all relevant supporting documents. Documents attached before November 16, 2023 do not automatically carry over to applications submitted after December 16, 2023 . All submitted documents become the property of the Hawaii State Department of Education. Information About Temporary Positions Temporary positions may be extended year to year based on funding and departmental needs. Temporary employees may become permanent after satisfactory completion of at least six months probation. Payday New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month. Benefits Holidays: 13 paid holidays per year; 14 during an election year. Vacation: 21 days per year in bargaining units 1–13. Sick Leave: 21 days per year in bargaining units 1–13. Health Insurance: Partial premium coverage for eligible employees. Group Life Insurance: Free life insurance policy for employees and retirees. Premium Conversion Plan: Employees may increase take‑home pay by having the State deduct health care premium costs before payroll taxes. Flexible Spending Accounts: Eligible employees can reduce taxes through Island Flex pre‑tax benefit program. Retirement Plan: State contributes to a retirement plan for eligible employees. Tax Shelter Annuity (TSA): Eligible employees may participate in a tax‑sheltered annuity program. Deferred Compensation: Employees may participate in a tax‑deferred retirement investment program. Temporary Disability Insurance: Qualified employees may receive benefits for non‑work related disability. Social Security: Employer contributes to an employee’s Social Security account. Workers’ Compensation: Benefits for medical expenses and wage support for injuries on the job. Union & Collective Bargaining: Employees may join the union; non‑union members must pay service fees unless excluded.
