Location: Avera McKennan Hospital Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends (United States of America) Pay Range: $32.50 - $48.50 Position Highlights Sign‑On Bonus up to $15,000 Varied shifts: 7‑7:30 am/pm; 48 hours over two weeks A Brief Overview Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; and re‑evaluating care objectives based on changing conditions. Responsibilities Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health‑care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; supporting patients, families, and friends. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining patients; documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family, and establishing nursing diagnoses, objectives, and interventions. Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals, instructing patients, families, and friends about conditions, medications, and self‑care skills, and answering questions. Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, reviewing patient records, noting changing conditions, and modifying the nursing care plan as needed. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, organization standards, and legal regulations. Documents patient care services in patient and department records. Keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintains competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the specified hours, possess adequate visual acuity, and communicate effectively with others, hearing, understanding, and distinguishing speech and other sounds. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) with a current Board of Nursing license in the state of practice (active license upon hire). Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience 1‑3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
