Rheumatologist Position - Salisbury, NC - Sign-On Bonus Offered

Our organization is looking for a Full-Time Rheumatologist to deliver comprehensive care to patients at our Salisbury, Charlotte, and Kernersville VA locations. The selected candidate will be responsible for diagnostic assessments, care coordination, and ensuring the effective provision of services, reporting directly to the Chief of Medicine Service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and coordinate extensive rheumatology care, providing consultations for both inpatient and outpatient cases.

• Maintain clear communication and documentation with patients and healthcare staff.

• Oversee and mentor midlevel providers, residents, and fellows.

• Conduct and interpret relevant procedures, including arthrocentesis, EKGs, and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

• Engage in quality assurance initiatives, meetings, and educational programs.

• Contribute to research, process enhancements, and special projects as assigned.

Academic Appointment:
Successful applicants will receive a faculty appointment at a prestigious medical school, with rank determined by their experience and academic accomplishments. Flexible protected time will be allocated to support educational and research endeavors within the clinician-educator-research track.

Additional Requirement: MD/DO with fellowship training in Rheumatology.

Preferred Experience: Board certification through the ABIM is preferred, although board-eligible candidates will also be considered. A proven track record of leadership in multi-site or complex healthcare systems is essential, along with a strong dedication to education, patient outcomes, and ongoing improvement. Training or certification in Sleep Medicine is a plus but not required.

Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are not available, in line with VA policy.

• Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.

• Licensure: Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

• Residency: Completion of residency in an accredited core specialty is required.

• Board Certification: Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Rheumatology.

Benefits:

• Salary: Ranges from $260,000 to $315,000.

• Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular pay increases.

• Recruitment Incentive: A sign-on bonus may be available for exceptionally qualified candidates.

• Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and potentially 5 days for CME).

• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
