Looking for a flexible after-school job that works around sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities? Join The Community House as an After-School Mentor! 

This position is designed with busy high school students in mind. Afternoon shifts begin at 3:30 PM and ends at 6 PM , and we offer flexible scheduling to help accommodate practices, games, school activities, and other commitments.

After the Bell takes place Monday-Friday, 3:00-6:00 PM at D181 elementary schools in Hinsdale or Clarendon Hills.

Support Staff work alongside our Site Supervisors and staff to create a fun, welcoming, and safe environment for elementary-aged children in our Before & After the Bell program. You'll help with games, activities, homework time, crafts, and everyday program needs while gaining valuable experience working with children.

This is a great opportunity for students looking for their first job, experience working with kids, or a flexible way to earn money during the school year.

Compensation:

$16 - $17 hourly

Responsibilities:

• Assist Site Supervisors with daily program activities and routines

• Engage with children through games, crafts, activities, and homework time

• Help supervise participants and maintain a safe, positive environment

• Help set up and clean up activities and program spaces

• Encourage children to participate and interact positively with others

• Follow program rules, safety procedures, and staff direction

• Communicate appropriately and respectfully with participants, families, and fellow staff

• Assist with other program needs as directed by the Site Supervisor

Qualifications:

• High school student who enjoys working with children and are 16 years or older 

• Friendly, dependable, and responsible

• Positive attitude and willingness to help

• Able to communicate well with children and staff

• Comfortable working as part of a team

• Previous experience working with children is helpful but not required

• Available for afternoon shifts beginning at 3:30 PM
