Word Processing Operator

Responsibilities Document Creation & Editing : Create, edit, format, and proofread legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, contracts, correspondence, and memos from various sources (dictation, rough drafts). Advanced Formatting : Utilize MS Word’s advanced features (styles, auto-numbering, TOCs, TOAs, tables, charts) to meet firm standards. Document Management : Assist with document conversion, clean up and formatting; create and revise complex legal documents adhering to Firm styles and guidelines. Transcription : Transcribe digital files accurately. Printing : Formatting to print and printing complex documents (i.e., Excel spreadsheets, data room sites, websites, etc.) that require advanced knowledge of software. Training/Technology : Stay abreast of technology and software changes within the firm in order to be an “expert” in document preparation; attend all mandatory training classes. Assist Word Processing team and legal staff in all offices as needed. Other duties as assigned. Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Required Advanced knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office 2011 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook, Litera NTD, Litera Create, Litera Compare, AdobePro, Best Authority, and similar software. Facilitate the creation and editing of Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents. Proficient in iManage or familiarity with document management systems. Knowledge of graphics programs such as Photoshop, Paint, Canva or desktop publishing is helpful. Ability to work through complex document markups and instructions in a timely manner. Ability to juggle various assignments simultaneously. Flexibility to work overtime, occasionally including weekends or change shift to accommodate Firm needs. Demonstrate confidentiality in all matters. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Education and/or Experience 5+ years of word processing/legal assistant experience at a law firm required. Minimum typing speed of 75 wpm. Client Service Job Knowledge & Efficiency Accountability Communication Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and typing.
