Financial Analyst

Job Summary The Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC) at the University of Utah Health seeks a Financial Analyst to provide full‑range financial services for assigned projects and activities. The analyst prepares financial reports, manages project budgets, and delivers financial analysis to DCC and project leadership while coordinating with DCC leadership and Project Operation Leaders. Responsibilities Prepares and interprets management information and financial reports. Meets with operational leaders to review the financial status of projects. Analyzes trends, projections and potential consequences. Collaborates with the Proposal Development Office to prepare budgets and provide feedback on proposals. Participates in establishing and maintaining cost‑accounting systems. Recommends and implements improvements to accounting systems and DCC operations. Prepares, monitors, and reports on center, project and program budgets. Prepares project/grant budgets and assists with proposals. Updates effort allocations for DCC staff. Provides guidance and training on financial matters and procedures. Researches and prepares necessary revenue, expense, payroll, journal entries and other accounting procurements or corrections. Determines appropriate analysis methods, data collection, and report structure independently. Maintains compliance with GAAP and applicable NIH, state, private foundation, and university policies. Organizes and prioritizes multiple projects, identifying resources needed and clear reporting formats. Collaborates with DCC leadership and the Financial Management Analyst to address issues, challenges and trends. Participates in meetings to discuss changes in financial accounting standards and resolution techniques. Qualifications Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field with six years of directly related experience, or a master’s degree with four years of related experience. One year of higher education may substitute for one year of work experience (e.g., a bachelor’s degree equals four years of experience). Preferred qualifications include: post‑award research accounting experience in an academic setting, an advanced degree such as an MBA, and strong organizational and communication skills. Pay Range $56,000 to $92,618 per year. Work Location & Residency Campus; Salt Lake City, UT. Flexible, mostly remote schedule for residents of Utah; remote telework may be considered for in‑state residents only. Employees are expected to reside and work within the state of Utah.
