Assistant I (Hourly) Job Summary : Provides clerical and administrative support to a departmental office or program. Responsibilities Perform office duties in support of faculty, staff, and student efforts, including word processing, data entry, maintaining files, processing mail, and duplication. Gather, compile, and enter data, producing routine reports and documents. Produce handouts, fliers, newsletters, brochures, manuals, and other documents. Answer telephone calls, route calls or take messages, and respond to or direct inquiries in person or by telephone. Input budget figures, prepare requisitions, log and track expenditures, take payments, or issue invoices or bills. Maintain tracking systems and logs. Operate office equipment such as copiers and fax machines. Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software; may also use social media, desktop publishing, and update webpages. Essential Skills Maintain confidentiality of work‑related information and materials. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Maintain an established work schedule. Effectively use interpersonal, communication, organizational, and planning skills. Perform other clerical duties including data entry and file maintenance. Display customer orientation when working with a multicultural population. Physical Requirements Work is routinely performed in a standard office environment. The position may involve standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling, as well as occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
