Worship Leader

Position: Worship Leader
Status: Part-Time
Compensation: $300 per Sunday
Reports to: Pastor
Service Time: Sunday worship at 10:00 AM; arrival by 9:00 AM
Term: Elected annually by the church according to the GRBC Constitution and By-Laws

Purpose
The Worship Leader serves the church by coordinating the music ministry and leading the congregation in biblically faithful, Christ-centered worship. The goal is strong congregational singing, theologically rich songs, reverent and joyful worship, and a worship ministry that glorifies God and edifies the church.

Responsibilities
The Worship Leader will:

• Lead congregational singing for Sunday morning worship and special services as designated by the Pastor.
• Choose biblically faithful, theologically rich, congregationally singable songs, with the Pastor having final approval.
• Coordinate song selections with the sermon text/theme when possible.
• Communicate selected songs to the Pastor by the end of the day on Thursday.
• Pray, prepare, practice, and communicate faithfully each week.
• Prepare or coordinate song charts, slides, sound check, and worship-related materials.
• Schedule and communicate with musicians, vocalists, and AV/sound volunteers as needed.
• Oversee the worship team under the authority of the Pastor.
• Help develop additional musicians, younger leaders, and future worship servants over time.
• Lead within the allotted service time and in a manner that supports the order and purpose of the worship service.
• Meet weekly with the Pastor unless otherwise directed.
• Attend church committee, Church Council, or other leadership meetings when requested.

Qualifications
The Worship Leader must:

• Be a born-again believer and member in good standing of Golf Road Baptist Church.
• Affirm the church’s doctrine, covenant, constitution, and the Baptist Faith and Message.
• Meet the biblical character qualifications consistent with elder qualifications.
• Demonstrate humility, teachability, unity, faithfulness, and spiritual maturity.
• Lead vocally with guitar or piano.
• Be able to prepare song charts and worship slides.
• Work well under pastoral oversight and support the Pastor’s leadership.
• Model faithful church attendance, godly conduct, and commitment to the church’s mission.

Authority and Accountability
The Pastor has final authority over the worship service while delegating broad responsibility to the Worship Leader for song selection, preparation, and worship-team coordination. The Worship Leader may schedule musicians, coordinate normal worship-team matters, and lead the music ministry, but may not make major worship philosophy changes, spend church funds, or create budget obligations without approval.

The Worship Leader will be reviewed annually by the Pastor and appropriate church leadership/committee.

Measures of Faithfulness
After six months, the Worship Leader should be helping establish strong congregational singing, prepared worship services, clear communication, and theologically rich song selection.

After one year, the Worship Leader should be helping establish a more solidified worship liturgy, greater congregational participation, and the beginning development of additional musicians and worship leaders.

Correction or Removal
The Worship Leader may be corrected, disciplined, or removed for moral failure, doctrinal compromise, divisiveness, failure to follow pastoral leadership, failure to fulfill agreed responsibilities, or disqualification according to biblical elder qualifications and church standards.
