Position Summary
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) supports the social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of students in a K-12 educational setting. The LCSW collaborates with students, families, educators, administrators, and community agencies to promote student well-being, improve access to educational opportunities, and help students overcome barriers to learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling services to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
• Conduct assessments and screenings to identify student needs and support service planning.
• Develop and implement intervention plans that promote student success and well-being.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504, and student support team meetings as appropriate.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers to address student concerns and develop effective support strategies.
• Assist with crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and response efforts as directed.
• Provide consultation and resources to families regarding community services and support programs.
• Facilitate communication between school personnel, families, and community agencies to coordinate services.
• Support attendance improvement, behavioral interventions, and school engagement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with professional standards and applicable regulations.
• Participate in professional development activities and remain current on best practices in school-based social work and mental health services.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment for all students.

Qualifications Required

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
• Current LCSW licensure, OR an MSW with eligibility to accrue supervised clinical hours toward licensure (associate-level / pre-clinical licensure, as defined by your state).
• Knowledge of child and adolescent development, behavioral health, and social-emotional learning.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred

• Internship, practicum, or field placement experience in educational, behavioral health, or community-based settings.
• Familiarity with special education procedures, Section 504 plans, and student support services.
• Experience working with children, adolescents, and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Training in crisis intervention, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral support strategies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of counseling techniques, social work principles, and mental health interventions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
• Ability to assess student needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and case-management skills.
• Commitment to fostering equitable access to educational opportunities and student support services.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a school environment serving students in grades K-12.
• Frequent interaction with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community agencies.
• May involve travel between school sites within the district.
• Occasional participation in after-school meetings, family conferences, or crisis response activities may be required.
• Counseling and support services may be delivered in person or via telehealth, depending on district needs and student fit.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout school buildings and educational settings.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use standard office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners.
• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency or crisis situations.
